These come up most often, and the answers are here rather than in a reply two days later.
The camera says it cannot analyse the photo
Recognition runs on a server, so it needs a connection. If you are online and it still fails, the photo may not have a recognisable meal in it — the app says so rather than guessing a number. Point the camera at the plate, with the food filling most of the frame.
How accurate are the numbers?
81 kcal mean absolute error and a 41 kcal median, measured on 62 dishes from Nutrition5k — a public dataset where every ingredient of every dish was weighed on a scale. The gap between the two is the useful part: half the dishes land within 41 kcal, and a minority of hard ones drag the average up. Every scan also shows its own confidence range, so a result the engine is unsure about says so on screen instead of presenting a guess as a measurement. For an exact number, scan the barcode or weigh the food and enter it by hand — both are free and uncapped.
What do I get without paying, and what does Pro cost?
3 AI scans in total — the whole trial, not 3 a day. Barcode scanning, manual entry, macros, water, weigh-ins and Apple Health sync stay free and uncapped, with no card and no account. Pro is $2.49 a month, $14.99 a year (about $1.25 a month) with a 3-day free trial, and allows up to 50 AI scans a day. It is deliberately not called unlimited, because 50 a day is the real cap in the code. A Group plan covers 5 to 30 people you invite, from $9.99 a month — the seats are for them, not for you, so the person paying keeps their own Pro if they want it.
What is a Group, and who sees my food?
One person buys a Group plan and everyone who joins with their invite code has Premium while it runs; the buyer is not one of them and keeps their own subscription. The people in your group see your daily totals — calories, macros, water, steps, your streak — and the meals themselves with their photos. There is no setting that hides them: what the join screen lists before you type the code is what they see, for as long as you are in the group. Leaving is one button, and it stops.
My data is not on my other device
There are two ways to sync, and it is worth knowing which one you are on. Signing in to Sabzy — Profile › Account, with Apple or Google — carries your log between devices through our own database, and that is free. iCloud mirroring is the other one: it is a Pro feature, both devices must be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and the copy stays inside your own iCloud where we cannot read it. Profile shows which mode the app is actually in, at the bottom of the screen.
I subscribed on another device and Pro is not here
Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore at the top. The subscription belongs to your Apple Account, not to the phone.
I changed the language and nothing happened
iOS picks the language when the app launches. Close Sabzy from the app switcher and open it again.
I want everything deleted
Profile → Delete my data removes every meal, weigh-in and weight entry, on this device and on anything signed in to the same iCloud account. If you signed in to Sabzy as well, Profile → Account → Delete account is the other half: it erases the copy on our side — meals, weigh-ins, water, the days published to your group, the profile and its photos — and then the account itself, before deleting it. Neither leaves us holding anything.
Billing and refunds
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Cancel or ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. We cannot see your payment details and cannot issue a refund ourselves.
Privacy
What the app stores and what leaves your device is set out in full in the Privacy Policy. Short version: no advertising, nothing sold, and no account needed — the food log lives on your device and in your own iCloud, and signing in is a choice that adds a copy we hold in the European Union. Anonymous usage and crash reports do go to Firebase, and the policy lists exactly what is in them; nothing you photographed, typed or ate is.
